PRESS RELEASE - Oct 2010
Color Zoom Paris
An incredible night for the UK
After months of excitement, over 2000 hairdressers from 27 countries, including
100 from the UK, arrived in Paris for a spectacular 3-day showcase of hair,
fashion, inspiration and talent. As Paris Fashion Week ended and Color Zoom
began, this was without a doubt the most fashion-forward Goldwell event yet. And
it proved to be a particularly fantastic night for the UK...
Sunday 10th October
The Color Zoom 2010 International Live Finals took place at the Halle Freyssinet
- home of Paris Fashion Week. Goldwell opened the doors of the competition to
allow viewing of the live competition, where attendees were able to see the
colour work being prepared, and even attend the live judging. The National
winners has to recreate their photographic image (50% of their final score) live
on their model in under 3 hours.
The UK winners competing in the International Finals were; Partner Colorist Andy
Kyriacou from Lexingtons in North London (4 times UK Category winner), New
Talent Colorist Greig Kennedy from Neil Barton Salon in Edinburgh, and Creative
Colorist Neil Barton also from Neil Barton Salon. Competition judges were
selected from the best in the industry from around the globe including our own
icons Beverly C and Mark Leeson.
After an exciting day of live competition, Goldwell hosted a grand Art Deco
styled welcome party at Pavillon Baltard, a prestigious monument from the XIXth
century. With drinks flowing, a live band and thousands of hairdressers, the
party rocked until the early hours!
Monday 11th October
After an incredible night, Monday was a free day to sightsee, shop and prepare
for the main event that evening - the reason everyone had travelled to Paris
from all corners of the world - The Color Zoom Global Finals! Held in the
amazing Halle Freyssinet, with an enormous catwalk as the centre piece, Goldwell
put on an awe-inspiring show. Kicking off with a stunning aquatic show, a
beautiful acrobat created an incredible ballet/rock dance show inside a giant
glass bath, then moving onto graceful male pole dancers and a quirky fashion and
hair show by Mondo Valentino, which included male models in tuxedos and pink
stilettos and florescent afghan-fur coats.
The global finalists then sent their models down the runway for a catwalk show of
the winning looks from around the world before a sneak preview of 2011's Color
Zoom Collection Play Strong. Global CEO Anthony Pucciarelli thanked the
finalists and the Color Zoom International Creative Team, before the
announcement of this year's global winners...

2010 sees the first ever UK winner of the Global Color Zoom Finals, and Goldwell
would like to say a huge congratulations to our Global Winner Neil Barton. Neil,
along with the other international winners, will now become apart of the
International Color Zoom Creative Team, joining the Master Team (Sascha
Haselhoff from Berlin, Mario Krankl from Austria, and Agnes Westerman from the
Netherlands) to create the Color Zoom 2012 Collection.
Neil, who has owned Neil Barton Salon in Edinburgh for 3 years, said of his win:
"Winning an International competition has always been my dream, so this is
really a dream come true. Me and my salon team entered Color Zoom as a
team-building exercise so it’s been amazing to win. I can't wait to get started
with the Color Zoom Master Team!"
The evening was a rollercoaster of emotion, creativity, inspiration and
show-stopping visuals - the most incredible Goldwell Color Zoom event yet!
Tuesday 27th October
To follow up from the launch of Color Zoom 2012 the previous evening, there was
an inspirational Look and Learn Seminar in the morning. This in-depth
presentation detailed the new "PLAY STRONG" trend, where the inspiration came
from, how the trend was formulated and then translated into a hair collection.
The International Color Zoom Creative Team 2009 revealed that Play Strong,
created with insight from international trend forecasting agencies, exuded
confidence and empowerment. Play Strong takes the contrasts of black, white and
red and combines them to create a trend that is aggressively attractive yet
playful and individual. More to come on this trend in January 2011!
Paris made the perfect backdrop for Color Zoom 2010. This rich, vibrant and
fashion-forward city reflected the energy of the event and also the new Play
Strong trend for 2011. It was an amazing event for the UK, and Neil Barton is
set to take the world by storm in 2011 - definitely one to watch!
So, where will the finals take place next year...see you in Miami for Color
Zoom 2011!
